of the warm days of summer. . .
Jeremy and I spent a day at the Ledges Park last week. It was nice to get out and breathe in fresh air! It was still pretty cold, but hiking with 30+ pounds of photography equipment kept us warm and toasty!
We attempted to hunt down some deer with our camera, but they of course ran. . . I told Jeremy we just needed to get back into the car and they'd start jumping out at us! If you live in Iowa, you know what I'm talking about!! When we lost the deer, we decided to head back and that is when we found the hawk in the middle of the field (see post below!). He looked like he probably died from old age, as there were no apparent injuries anywhere on him. That was probably our biggest find of the day. Otherwise, everything is still covered in snow, and we are not loving on it anymore (did we ever?).
This time of year I would rather pull the hairs from my arm out one by one than see us get any more snow. I'm starting to see glimpses of grass in our backyard FINALLY, but I won't get my hopes up, as a forever Iowa resident I know we aren't done just yet. It seems like we always have one last big bang before we get to see some relief. I have a photo from last year with my poor blooming tulips covered in ice. You'd think I'd be used to it, right?? Every year I hate it just a little more than before, though, but here are a few more images of the stuff.
From a hawk. I'll post more later about our little outing today, but I had to get this one up for you, Mike, just in case you learned what a blog was, and how to find me!
